Focus and Scope
Trench journal focuses on the field of archaeology, specifically highlighting research related to Southeast Asia. It's covers subjects like:
- Prehistoric cultures and early human settlements in Southeast Asia.
- Archaeological evidence related to the Hindu-Buddhist, Islamic, and colonial periods.
- Cultural heritage preservation and management in the region.
- The application of new archaeological technologies and methodologies in Southeast Asian studies.
- Comparative studies between Southeast Asia and other regions.
The journal welcomes original research articles, critical reviews, and case studies that offer insights into the archaeological record, material culture, and historical development of the region. Peer Review Process
1. Manuscript Submission
- Authors submit their manuscripts online, following the journal's formatting guidelines.
- Authors must prepare the manuscript to remove any identifying information (names, affiliations, etc.).
2. The initial editorial assessment
- The editor screens the submission to ensure it meets the journal’s scope and basic formatting requirements.
- The editor makes sure to properly anonymize the manuscript.
3. Reviewer Selection
- The editor selects peer reviewers based on their expertise and invites them to review the manuscript.
- Reviewers won’t know the authors’ identities.
4. The Peer Review Process
- Reviewers evaluate the anonymized manuscript and provide feedback on its quality, originality, and relevance.
- They recommend one of the following: accept, minor revisions, major revisions, or reject.
- Reviewers’ identities remain hidden from the authors.
5. Reviewers’ Reports
- Reviewers submit their comments and feedback.
- The editor reviews these reports and ensures they maintain anonymity.
6. Editorial Decision
- The editor decides based on the reviewers' reports: accept, reject, or request revisions.
- The authors receive the decision and anonymous feedback.
7. Revision Process (if needed)
- Authors revise the manuscript based on the reviewers' comments and resubmit it.
- The editor anonymizes the manuscript once more and may reassess it with the same reviewers or new ones, depending on the situation.
8. Final Decision
- After receiving the revised manuscript, the editor makes the final decision to accept or reject.
9. Publication
- Once accepted, the manuscript goes through the production process for publication in the next issue.
10. We immediately reject plagiarism, and we do not allow simultaneous submissions.
11. All submissions are treated as confidential.
Publication Ethics
The journal adheres to the highest standards of ethical publication practices. Authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to uphold the following principles:
1. Authorship and Contribution
All listed authors must have made significant contributions to the research. Any form of plagiarism, data falsification, or unauthorized use of work will not be tolerated.
2. Originality
Submitted manuscripts must represent original work that has not been published elsewhere. Authors should ensure proper citations of all sources used in their research.
3. Peer Review
All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process. Reviewers are required to maintain confidentiality and provide objective, unbiased feedback.
4. Conflict of Interest
Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any conflicts of interest that could affect the impartiality of the review and publication process.
5. Transparency and Data Integrity
Authors must provide accurate and verifiable data. If errors are discovered post-publication, authors are responsible for promptly notifying the editorial board to issue corrections or retractions.
6. Ethical Research Standards
Research involving human subjects, sensitive sites, or indigenous communities must adhere to ethical guidelines, ensuring proper consent and respect for cultural heritage.
Publication Frecuency
This journal is published twice a year in June and December.
Open Access Policy
Trench: Journal of Archaeology is open access journal. All articles are published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC-BY). All articles are freely available to read, share, and download. We must properly credit authors and journals in accordance with publication ethics and the best practices of scholarly publishing.
Plagiarism Policy
The journal strictly prohibits plagiarism. All submissions are checked for originality using plagiarism detection tools. Any manuscript found to contain plagiarized content will be rejected or retracted. Authors must ensure all sources are properly cited, and failure to comply may result in a ban from future submissions.
Publications Charges
Trench: Journal of Archaeology is free of charge for all the authors. There are no submission fees or publication fees for this journal.
